Martin is wearing an Ankara, a Ghanaian fabric that is also knows as the Kente.
In the past, the Ankara was worn among royals; it represented royalty.
Kente/Ankara means "the fabric of richness".

The fabric is sewn with a 100% cotton and is waxed through the famous Indonesian method called the Batik.
People from the three regions of Ghana wear the Ankara.
They are the Ashante tribe, Volta tribe and central tribe.

Martin is from the Volta tribe and they see the Ankara as an attire for the wealthy. It is an attire that past kings and queens had worn, one which they tied as a "wrapper".
